From the time Samuel and Eliza first arrived in Australia and resided in modest lodgings, to their final home of Mundarrah Towers, their progress through residences is just as much a story of their personal journey as is the story of the newspaper business.
In 1841, Sydney was still a pedestrian city; there was no public transport and you needed to live close enough to be able to walk to work. The Herald at this time was printed in George St, North, between what is now Grosvenor St and Essex St. So we believe Samuel and Eliza would have lived close by. Where they might have spent their first 2 years in their new land we just don’t know.
