1910 - Walter Lumley buys The Towers
The lots that were sold included allotment number 6 in the sub-division; the Mundarrah Towers homestead lot, which was purchased by Walter Lumley, a North Sydney butcher. Lumley also purchased the adjoining lot to the west, Lot 7.
In 1913 the NSW Government resumed a major portion of the northern sections of Lots 5 to 18 running along the creek, to make way for the Clovelly tram line loop along Donnellan Circuit. In a deal with the Government, Lumley ended up with just under 11/4 acres, comprised of the southern portions of Lots 6 to 9 and including The Towers.
Aside from a small 4 bedroom cottage constructed below The Towers in 1914, in the south-west corner of block, The Towers was the only building on the “island” created by the resumptions.
